What is stiff tulle used for?
Stiff (kom) tulle is a crease-resistant polyester tulle that stands up and gives volume. It is used in the full skirt layers of bridal and evening gowns, petticoats and tutus, and because it does not hold creases easily, in event decoration, floristry and gift wrapping. Ours is 27–28 g/m².
Stiff, voile and square tulle compared
Voile Tulle (8–9 g/m²) is very light and drapes softly, for veils and top layers. Stiff Tulle (27–28 g/m²) gives the skirt volume. Square Tulle (60–62 g/m²) has a square mesh, a visible texture and more strength. Many ateliers use all three in one gown.
